Operation Kindness Mexico

Plastic Recycling Project Appeal 2021

Learning to care for ourselves, for each other, and for the planet.

Please support us in funding this community-led recycling project in Yucatan, Mexico, and help to sustain our youth programmes and Kindness School for years to come...

In 2016, community activists in the Mayan towns of Tekax and Oxkutzcab in the Yucatan province of Mexico, organised into a colectiva mujeres (women's collective) now known as Operation Kindness Mexico.  With support from the Mandala Trust - a UK-based children's charity, they have since initiated a number of inspiring community initiatives including a permaculture project in which the local children learn how to cultivate organic food, breakfast clubs for school children, and yoga and meditation lessons to nurture the children's well-being.

OK Mexico are now raising funds to purchase equipment for a new community recycling project that will recycle plastic waste in the area, engage local youth in environmental awareness programmes, and create a source of income through the production of 'plastic wood' in order to develop and sustain the Yucatan Kindness School - a youth education and permaculture project in which children and young people from across the province will learn to care for themselves, for each other, and for the planet.
